The responsibilities of the Cook include overseeing the Hot Choice Buffet products to guarantee they meet the standards in taste, quantity, freshness, and quality. Attention to detail is given towards working swiftly, maintaining cleanliness, organizing effectively, and meeting product requirements.
Food Production:
- Ensures that Carving and Display Cooking products for the Hot Choice Buffet are made in accordance with Golden Corral's recipes and procedures.
- Ensures that all food is grilled to meet the quality expectations established by Golden Corral.
- Ensures that each fried dish is consistently delivered with freshness and heat.
- When the Buffet Attendant is unavailable, it falls on the Cook to restock the items on the Display Cooking Station.
- When the Carver is unavailable, they step in to guide guests towards different carved meat selections.
- Thoroughly following and using the buffet production system to ensure quality standards and compliance with shelf life regulations.

Operational Excellence:
- Keeps all products at the correct temperature while cooking, holding, and serving them.
- Utilizes the Hot Choice Buffet Production Guide and the Display Cooking Hot Cook Production Guide to monitor and control the availability of all hot cook merchandise.
- Executes the starting and ending administrative processes.
- Carries out regular maintenance on equipment as per the directives provided in the Equipment Maintenance manual.
- Follows the FIFO approach to arrange and replace food items in a timely manner.
- Reviews product levels and confirms them with the Manager's build-to inventory during shift commencement and closure.
Cleanliness:
- Confirms that the Hot Cook area and smallwares are sanitized and inspects dishes for any dirt before utilizing them.
- Oversees the duty assignment list and ensures that cleanliness, service, and quality benchmarks are reached.
- Abides by the laws enacted by the local health department.
- Periodically scrape and clean the char grill to guarantee high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
Guest Service:
- Keeps Hot Choice Buffet products, including Display Cooking options, consistently warm and ready for guests, prioritizing their enjoyment.
- Recognizes and follows the position obligations in relation to just-in-time delivery.
- Acts in a pleasant and courteous manner when attending to guests and helping them select products.
- Ensures that communication remains professional in every interaction.
